Systems Engineering Society of Australia (SESA)

For engineers dedicated to meeting demands for high-technology systems.

The Systems Engineering Society of Australia is focused on meeting the needs of engineers and industry in relation to national and global demand for high technology systems.

Complex systems are at the heart of the modern world. They support our communications and guide our planes to safe takeoffs and landings. They manage the upkeep of metropolitan infrastructure and ensure the capabilities of defence. We rely on satellite arrays, railways and many other intricate systems — all created and maintained by engineers.

Engineering complexity

Systems Engineering is a multidisciplinary practice that allows for the conceptualisation and creation of complex systems. It is focused on research, development, and change reinforced through validation. With technical and business needs in mind, a practical and comprehensive approach is necessary for the successful realisation of complex systems.

The International Council On Systems Engineers (INCOSE) defines a “system” as “An integrated set of elements that accomplish a defined set of objectives.”

Systems engineers come from the full range of engineering disciplines and specialise in creating, refining and adapting industry and process-specific systems

SESA membership

The Systems Engineering Society of Australia is a technical society of Engineers Australia and a chapter of the International Council on Systems Engineering. Joining SESA provides invaluable networking opportunities, access to conferences and symposia, newsletters and digital access to SESA and SETE documents.

With members in a wide range of engineering disciplines, the experiences and insights from engineers both in and outside of your discipline will inspire and inform your own work. Working groups are available for national and international collaboration in distinct domains. For driven professionals, SESA is a system for professional development and engineering success.
