Australian Composite Structures Society (ACSS)

The Australian Composite Structures Society is focused on facilitating discourse related to composite materials. Members share insights, ideas and knowledge of current composite structure developments.

Founded in December 1992, the ACSS supports Australia’s flourishing composites industry by providing engineers with a place to discuss, share, network and interface with national and global organisations.

Composites – supporting the structure of our world

Composite structures are an integral component of modern engineering design for multiple industries. Their development and use increases alongside advances in manufacturing and increasing demands to make products, vehicles and structures stronger, lighter and more efficient.

Advanced fibres, ceramic and metallic matrix materials and reinforced plastic are crucial to the continued progress of industries dependent on aerospace, naval and space engineering.

Composites will continue to be a major factor in technological innovation, utilised by engineers to create better satellites, deep ocean probes, robotics and more.

ACSS objectives, activities and affiliations

The ACSS is committed to a number of objectives related to driving innovation and cooperation for those creating and working with composite structures. The society achieves this through sharing knowledge and theories with members and by liaising with engineering and scientific bodies.

With activities that include formal meetings, social functions, site visits and conference participation the ACSS provides members with rich, meaningful experiences and the opportunity to achieve a greater presence in their industry.

The ACSS is affiliated with a number of important organisations such as Engineers Australia, Monash University, Advanced Composite Structures Australia and more.
